According to a report on Digital Camera World, Canon will not be releasing anymore EF mount lenses for their DSLRs, despite having just announced the Canon 1DX Mark III, their new flagship DSLR, only yesterday. They say they are open to the possibility of making new ones, though, if the market demands it. But for now, they want to shift their attention towards RF lenses for their EOS R system.
The Canon EOS R Mark II is already being tested out in the wild, report says
So, this will make, what? 4 new Canon bodies expected in the relatively near future? There’s the EOS 1DX Mark III, an EOS 1DX-like mirrorless, a super high resolution “EOS Rs” and now an EOS R Mark II is already being tested, according to Canon Rumors.
The Canon EOS R was announced only just over a year ago in September 2018, and it seems crazy to replace it so quickly, although a Mark II was already rumoured to be on Canon’s roadmap as recently as October. The EOS R, while rather good, isn’t perfect, and Canon is playing catch up to Sony in some respects, so a short initial release cycle isn’t too crazy.
These are the rumoured specs for Canon’s upcoming 75-megapixel “EOS Rs”
Canon’s EOS 5DS and 5DSR have proven quite popular amongst landscape, architecture, product, macro and other photographers who demand high resolutions over speed. But they were released in 2015 and Canon has shown no indication that they’ll be replaced by an upcoming DSLR. A high-resolution EOS R mirrorless model, however, has been rumoured for a while now.
Now it looks like the folks at Canon Rumors have managed to get their hands on some possible specs for the new high-res mirrorless, which they’re dubbing the “EOS Rs”. Their source also claims to have shot with a prototype of the new model, and that we can expect an announcement possibly as soon as February.
Canon’s EOS Ra astrophotography-focused mirrorless camera is finally official
Canon EOS Ra, the astrophotography version of EOS R, has been officially announced. We first learned about it in September, when an instruction leaflet was published online. Then a few photos leaked, and now the modified version of the Canon R is finally out.

Canon to announce a high end 1DX-like EOS R mirrorless camera in 2021

Canon just teased a major upcoming autofocus firmware for the EOS R and EOS RP cameras
Canon has shown off a pretty major upcoming firmware update for the Canon EOS R and EOS RP cameras to enhance their autofocus capabilities. Specifically, the update seems to deal with the speed and accuracy of Eye AF and object tracking.
A video demo posted to YouTube by Canon shows side-by-side comparisons of the current firmware vs the new one, which should be arriving in September.
Canon M6 Mark II announced: 32MP APS-C sensor, 4K video, 14fps continuous shooting

Canon’s “holy trinity” of RF lenses could be coming this week, these are the rumored prices
Earlier this year, Canon announced the development of six new RF mount lenses. While some of them are already available for orders, Canon has left us waiting longer for RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM, RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM and RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM. But, according to some sources, there’s not much more to wait. The “holy trinity” of lenses could be coming as soon as this week, and we already know the prices. Well, at least the rumored ones.
Canon to rejoin the megapixel race with an 80+ megapixel EOS R mirrorless camera
Sony’s 61-megapixel A7R IV caused quite the splash when it was announced, becoming the highest resolution full-frame camera out there. Canon’s ageing 50-megapixel 5DS and 5DSR bodies were the previous champions, but they’re getting a little long in the tooth. According to a report on Canon Rumors, though, Canon is preparing to reclaim the throne with an 80+ megapixel EOS R body.
