Canon users should get out the balloons this coming March and join in the celebrations of 35 years of Canon’s EOS system! The EOS label includes both interchangeable cameras as well as its entire fleet of interchangeable EF and RF lenses.
Canon first launched the EOS system in March 1987 with the EOS 650 Single Lens Reflex camera and EF lenses. It was the first fully electronic mount system and represented the dawn of a new generation of Auto-focus SLR cameras.
Recently, word of a newly certified Canon DC126801 32-megapixel APS-C sensor came out. It was suspected that this might find its way into potentially upcoming EOS 80D and/or EOS 7D Mark II replacement models. Now it looks like the latter option is well and truly being taken off the table.
Canon Rumors is reporting that Canon is killing off the EOS 7D line completely. Although it does seem like an EOS 90D (I’m assuming that’s what an 80D replacement will be called), might be a little beefier than we expected as a result, given the mention of the LP-E6 battery alongside the new 32MP sensor.
So far, most of the lenses announced or expected for the Nikon Z and Canon RF mount systems have been quite pricey. Meike, a company famous for making low budget camera grips for DSLRs and mirrorless cameras, sees things a little differently, though. The company has now announced that their 50mm f/1.7 manual focus lens is coming for Nikon Z and Canon RF mount cameras.
