New spec rumours show dual card slots but no raw video in the Canon EOS R6

Canon has been extremely tight-lipped when it comes to the EOS R6. In fact, that pretty much haven’t even acknowledged its existence or any impending announcement. but a new set of specs has been leaked, according to Canon Rumors, that show quite an impressive little camera. It’s set to essentially be a mirrorless EOS 6D line equivalent, but it looks like it’ll be quite a bit more.

Some of the potential EOS R6 specs had previously been rumoured with an update in March and those haven’t really changed since (except for one). We already knew about the 20-megapixel sensor and would shoot 4K60p video, but now we’re hearing some new ones that are going to be welcome news to many would-be EOS R6 owners.

Canon EOS R5 to have a 26.2-megapixel sensor? That can’t be right, can it?

Well, this is interesting, although it’s probably a typo. Canon Watch has received an image that appears to be a page from a legitimate product brochure printed in German. This isn’t unexpected, with an announcement expected so soon, but it claims that the EOS R5 has a 26.2-megapixel sensor. The maths just doesn’t add up.

Although Canon hasn’t specified the stills resolution of the upcoming EOS R5 mirrorless camera, there’s just no way that it could be this low. So, where has this 26.2-megapixels come from? Have they accidentally leaked the resolution for the upcoming EOS R6 instead, ruling out the previous 20-megapixel rumours?

Canon’s new EOS R5 and EOS R6 camera announcements expected around July 2nd

It looks like we might finally have an actual solid and firm price on the upcoming Canon EOS R5 as Canon Rumors reports that an announcement may be coming as soon as Thursday, July 2nd. Not only that, but they say that we’ll hear an official announcement for the more secretive Canon EOS R6 at the same time.

While there has been quite a lot of information fed out about the upcoming Canon EOS R5 since its early teasers (no official price yet, obviously), Canon has said pretty much nothing about the EOS R6. There have been a few rumours here and there, but nothing solid as yet. It’s expected, though, that availability for both models will be announced on the same day.

The Canon EOS R5 launch price will be “under US$4,000”, report says

Recently, there were rumours that the upcoming Canon EOS R5 mirrorless camera would cost an eye-watering $6,700. These rumours were then quashed as the source of the “leak” admitted that they pretty much just plucked the number out of thin air and had no idea what the actual cost would be.

Now, more in line with Canon’s confirmation that the EOS R5 will essentially just be a mirrorless counterpart to their 5D DSLR product line, Canon Rumors is reporting that the price is definitely going to come in at under $4,000.

Canon EOS R6 announcement to be delayed until July 2020

While most of the buzz for Canon mirrorless has been around the impending EOS R5, they were also expected to be announcing a lower end EOS R6 at some point this year. Originally, it was expected that we might hear an announcement during Photokina that was originally scheduled to go ahead this month but which has since, obviously, been cancelled.

Even in spite of shipping delay rumours, an online announcement had still been expected for May, but according to Canon Rumors, the EOS R6 announcement now won’t come until July.

New Canon EOS R6 specs leak shows a mirrorless 6D Mark II with 4K60 video, IBIS and dual card slots

With the exception of the coronavirus, the photography world is glued to news of Canon’s upcoming EOS R5 – essentially the mirrorless continuation of Canon’s popular EOS 5D DSLR line. But Canon is also working on an EOS R6, which looks set to replace the EOS 6D DSLR product line – which will presumably end with the 6D Mark II.

EOS R6 talk has been a little quiet for a while, but a few new specs about the camera have been leaked via Canon Rumors. The new specs add to those from a couple of months ago, and offer a little more insight into what we can expect.

Canon’s end of year financial report drops hints about new EOS R cameras and RF lenses

Canon has released its 2019 end of year financial results and presentation, in which Canon highlight how they’ve done over the last year, and also talks a little about what we can expect in the future. Canon to release a 20-megapixel EOS R6 mirrorless camera this year, too

Hot on the heels of Canon EOS R5 rumours, it seems Canon may be getting ready to announce an EOS R6, too. A lower resolution camera, possibly as a mirrorless followup to the Canon EOS 6D Mark II, this camera is expected to be around 20-megapixels, and offer 4K video at 60 frames per second.

There aren’t really many specs just yet, even rumoured ones, but with Canon rumoured to be releasing four new full-frame cameras in 2020, and three of them being mirrorless, it adds up.
