If you’re a fan of sports, you’ve no doubt seen the work of photographer Peter Read Miller at some point, even if you haven’t been aware of it. He’s been covering sports photography for over three decades and he’s managed to get his hands on a new Canon 1DX Mark III.

In this video, he talks about his experiences with the new camera with images from a couple of NFL games, and breaks down some of the new features that it offers.

After much anticipation, and a healthy spoonful of rumors, Canon has officially unveiled its latest flagship camera, the EOS–1D X Mark II.

Canon shooters have been impatiently waiting for the EOS-1D X replacement, especially since the official announcement of the Nikon D5, and while the company still hasn’t released any official information, we’ve got the first photos and leaks specs of the soon-to-be-released monster of a camera.

The official announcement will likely take place next week, but until then – does it live up to your expectations?

Canon EOS-1D X Mark II Rumored Specs

Users of Canon’s flagship DSLR, the 1D X, will be happy to know that Canon Rumors has received a list of rumored specifications for the upcoming Mark II.

The release date, said to be sometime during the first quarter of 2016, is also important for those waiting for the 5D Mark IV as previous rumors stated it won’t be released before the 1D X replacement.

If the rumors are true, the new flagship model will put up a good fight against Nikon’s upcoming D5.

Canon 1D X and Nikon’s D7100 and D5200 receive firmware updates; not as cool as Sony’s

New firmware updates have been released for Canon’s 1D X and Nikon’s D7100 and D5200 DSLR cameras.

The Nikon updates (both version 1.03) include mostly minor fixes, and an annoying bug that would cause the cameras to freeze when using the automatic “Clean Image Sensor” option.

Canon’s update only fixes one issue where autofocus is initiated when it should.

Unlike Sony’s announcement regarding the a7R II firmware upgrade, Nikon’s update deals with camera models that have already been replaced.

Canon Exploring a 50MP EOS-1 Camera

Canon Rumors has been told that the company is looking into incorporating its new 50.6MP sensor, or a variation of it, into an EOS-1 style body.

While there’s no certainty at this point that such a camera will ever be produced, the move would allow users to enjoy the ergonomics, stronger battery and other advantages of the larger body.

Either way, should the camera materialize, it won’t happen until after the EOS-1D X Mark II is announced.

Canon May Be Making Customers Pay for Its Own Design Flaws

Last week, it was revealed that the Canon 1D X and 1D C had some manufacturing issues involving autofocusing in subfreezing temperatures. Apparently now, Canon Rumors has been given documents from an internal source with information that may have just brought a darker side of the camera making giant.
