Nine new Canon, Nikon and Fuji camera codes registered with certification body (and a Sony lens)

Well, it looks like there’s a flood of new cameras about to come in from Canon, Nikon and Fuji, along with a number of lenses from Canon and Sony, a new speedlight and a Nikon memory card – which I’m guessing is going to be CFexpress. According to Digicame-Info, a screenshot posted to “a huge bulletin board” lists a number of products from the four manufacturers.

Canon lists six digital cameras, 2 photography lenses, 2 cinema lenses (technically one lens in two mount options) and a speedlight. Nikon adds two digital cameras (one with wifi and apparently one without) as well as a memory card. Sony is apparently gearing up to announce an FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II and Fuji also has a new camera listed.

New Olympus pro model camera registered with certification body

It looks like OM Digital is planning to announce a new Olympus camera at some point soon, according to a new camera registration spotted by Nokishita. The registration appears to simply be the wireless certification for a new camera, but the fact that it shows both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz WiFi suggests that it’s likely something high end.

So far, all we’ve seen from OM Digital since taking over Olympus is the Pen E-P7 – at least as far as cameras go – and that’s not even coming to a global market. Well, that and the fact that they’re renaming everything. So, this would mark their first international release of a new camera since taking over.

Panasonic GH6 camera passes Bluetooth certification – but don’t expect it any time soon

Panasonic has now registered its upcoming Panasonic GH6 Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera and completed its Bluetooth Qualification Process. It’s hardly surprising that the Panasonic GH6 would support Bluetooth 5, although this registration confirms that Panasonic is indeed working on it as promised and we’re not just going to be stuck with the mostly incrementally updated GH5 Mark II.

Still, this registration does not necessarily mean that the GH6 is going to come any time soon. Virtually no real specs of the GH6 have been released, beyond what Panasonic let out on its initial development announcement, and the only leaked info we’ve seen so far that looks even vaguely believable is that Panasonic might finally offer phase detection autofocus.

New camera registration suggests compact Nikon Z30 mirrorless camera release imminent

The Nikon Z30 has been long-awaited as an entry-level camera in Nikon’s mirrorless lineup. Thanks to the release of the DX-format Nikon Z50, we know that Nikon isn’t afraid of sharing its Z mount between formats. The Z50 essentially replaced the old D5x00 series bodies in Nikon’s DSLR lineup, but what about the D3x00 series?

Well, that’s where the hypothetical Z30 would step in. And a new camera registration spotted by Nokishita, suggests that the Nikon Z30 camera announcement may be coming very soon. The filing in Taiwan doesn’t explicitly name the camera s the Nikon Z30, giving it the codename “N2016”, but I think it’s unlikely that we’d see a Nikon Z50 II already.

Sony has registered a new camera body – could be the Sony A7 IV

According to a tweet from Nokishita, Sony has registered a new camera body, labelled WW734234 with an overseas certification body.  It’s equipped with 5Ghz/2.4Ghz WiFi and Bluetooth. It’s the second currently unreleased-but-registered body we know of, alongside WW356015 (which also has 2.4Ghz WiFi and Bluetooth).

They also confirmed that these aren’t the recently announced A7R IIIa and A7R IVa (which are basically the old A7R III and A7R IV but with a higher resolution LCD). The A7R IVa is WW447485/WW778752 and the A7R IIIa is WW186333. It’s been suggested that the new code could be the Sony A7 IV.

OM Digital has registered a new camera body in China

OM Digital Solutions – the new owners of what used to be the Olympus camera division – has registered a new camera, codenamed “IM024” in China. According to the registration, it’s equipped with 2.4Ghz WiFi and Bluetooth, but there isn’t much other information besides that yet.

Exactly what is coming is unknown, although OM Digital Solutions has repeatedly said that they want to invigorate the brand and has plans to release “many” new products in 2021. We might even see a lean towards video, which is something JIP stated last September before the transition to OM Digital was completed.

Nokishita hasn’t been as fast and furious with the early leaks of late as they usually are, but they haven’t disappeared. They’ve still been keeping a close eye on what’s going on in the world of photography. And they’ve been paying particular attention to Sony, it seems.

They spotted a new Sony body registration, and know of four more other model code numbers for cameras that Sony hasn’t released yet. And yes, they’ve confirmed that none of the five unknown models definitely isn’t the recently released Sony A1.
