Camera bags come in all shapes and sizes. The big problem with most of them, though, is that they’re only ever that one shape or size. There are a few hybrid bags out there that can act in multiple ways, like the Manfrotto Advanced² Hybrid Backpack (buy here), and others like the Cosyspeed PhotoHiker 44 (buy here), which have modular inserts, but you can’t really change the overall form and size of the bag.

Launching on Kickstarter, Zipble aims to change this with its truly modular camera bag. It’s built up of multiple sections that zip together, allowing you to create exactly the type of backpack you need to carry your gear. Or, quick-change it as needed for different tasks and jobs instead of needing to own fifteen different camera bags.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re aware of the fact that plastic is one of the main marine pollutants. Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) writes that Every day approximately 8 million pieces of plastic end up in our oceans. According to data from 2020, plastics consistently make up 80% of all marine debris.

Because of alarming facts like these, more and more individuals and companies are switching to sustainable and eco-friendly solutions. One of them is NYA-EVO, a Belgium-based company that has just launched a unique camera backpack. What’s so special about it, I hear you ask. Well, it was made entirely from recycled nylon and it combines sustainability, durability, practicality, and great design.

Photography accessories company Moment is confirming their presence in the camera bag market by launching another travel camera backpack. This time around they have paired up with travel photographer Emmett Sparling to create the 35L Day Chaser Backpack.

Sparling says that he spent 5 years travelling with every type of camera bag possible, and was increasingly frustrated by the options available. They were either traditional bags that locked you into a pre-set configuration, and often didn’t protect your gear very well. So he teamed up with Moment to create one that fitted his vision.

I can count on three fingers the most needed and purchased camera accessories for beginner photographers and filmmakers. The first one is kind of obvious: the camera itself – most likely with a kit lens. A tripod is the second. And a camera bag comes third; a backpack, or something to protect and carry your crispy, newly purchased camera. You have just spent a few hundred on a camera, so a protective case that transports your gear is not the first thing you might consider all the way through. This wisdom develops after spending a lot of time with your gear.

You might find yourself checking out bag reviews after getting that second lens, a tripod or a flash kit. Suddenly your first bag seems to be getting smaller, and you’re ready to gear up.
