Thieves target Atlanta film industry businesses stealing over $3,000,000 in gear

It seems that Atlanta is the big movie business target for thieves at the moment, with a number of companies banding together to try to combat the problem. Surveillance cameras of a recent breaking at video production services and gear rental company, PC&E in Atlanta where thieves managed to get in, steal over $100,000 worth of equipment and get back out again in less than 10 minutes, with one camera alone reported to be worth around $90,000.

According to a report from CBS46 in Atlanta, the thieves broke in through a window and “just started grabbing stuff” as can be seen on the CCTV recording. There are said to have been over 30 break-ins since the summer, resulting in losses of more than $3,000,000 in gear value alone – not to mention the cost of repairs to facilities, lost business due to not having the gear to rent, etc.

Massive haul of Leica cameras and lenses stolen from Ffordes’ Scotland camera store

In the early hours of yesterday morning, thieves broke into the Ffordes Photographic Ltd camera shop in Inverness, Scotland. They took a huge amount of Leica cameras and lenses, and now the shop is appealing for help.

Ffordes initially took to Facebook to let people know what was going on and who to contact if they have any information. They have also now released an extensive list of all of the items that were stolen along with serial numbers.

Canadian photographer’s life’s work goes missing from burgled home on Christmas Eve

Coming home to find that you have been burgled is devastating. It’s a sad thing to happen to somebody at any time of year. For it to happen on Christmas Eve and find your entire life’s work missing must be absolutely soul destroying. But, that’s exactly what happened to sports photographer, Johany Jutras, upon returning home on Christmas Eve after a European vacation.

CBC reports that after arriving home, she found the door unlocked. After stepping inside she quickly realised the place had been ransacked. As she surveyed her apartment, she noticed that her television and several bottles of wine were missing from her collection. Her thoughts then went to her hard drives, of which were 12-15 were now also gone – including all her backups.

Alex Baker is a portrait and lifestyle driven photographer based in Valencia, Spain. She works on a range of projects from commercial to fine art and has had work featured in publications such as The Daily Mail, Conde Nast Traveller and El Mundo, and has exhibited work across Europe

Dave Williams is an accomplished travel photographer, writer, and best-selling author from the UK. He is also a photography educator and published Aurora expert. John Aldred is a photographer with over 20 years of experience in the portrait and commercial worlds. He is based in Scotland and has been an early adopter - and occasional beta tester - of almost every digital imaging technology in that time. As well as his creative visual work, John uses 3D printing, electronics and programming to create his own photography and filmmaking tools and consults for a number of brands across the industry.

Dunja Djudjic is a multi-talented artist based in Novi Sad, Serbia. With 15 years of experience as a photographer, she specializes in capturing the beauty of nature, travel, and fine art. In addition to her photography, Dunja also expresses her creativity through writing, embroidery, and jewelry making.
