A bridesmaid shared the story of how her friend demoted her at the last second before the wedding ceremony and demanded that she become her unpaid photographer instead. The woman, called Aila (presumably not her real name) posted on the popular Reddit forum AITA to ask if she was correct to walk out on the wedding and her so-called friend at the request.

Allegedly, the professional wedding photographer had taken ill and had to leave while the wedding party was getting ready. That left the bride in a situation where she didn’t have a photographer at very short notice.

Bride and father arrested after allegedly trying to force photographer to pay to shoot her wedding

This is one of those stories that just seems so outrageous, it has to be fake. Or it happened in Florida. I have no evidence of the latter, although I did discover this story via an Orlando “news” website. It begins with a post on Reddit, by user Breathofthemild420 who had a very unusual tale to tell. He spoke of a bride’s proposition: “You pay us $50 and then start taking photos that you can sell at the wedding to people who want them.”.

Naturally, he said no, before she turned into a bridezilla and he finally agreed to make her go just go away with no plan of actually turning up. On the day of the wedding, when he didn’t arrive, he says the bride and her father harassed him to the point of showing up at his house and beating on his door. But there’s so much more to this story.

This bridezilla threatened to withhold pay unless the photographer shot everything on her list

This is why I don’t shoot weddings. Ok, it’s not the only reason why I don’t shoot weddings, but having to deal with people like this is the main reason why I don’t shoot weddings – especially when most of them don’t want to pay the photographer what they deserve or even need to charge in order to thrive and survive as a business.

One bride in particular, though, has taken crazy to a whole new level. She’s created a five-page checklist of photos she wants the photographer to get, and is refusing to pay them unless they show her every single last one of them having been captured. She also posted her checklist to Facebook for those who might want some tips for booking their own wedding photographer.

Trashing someone all over the internet is not an adequate way to express your dissatisfaction with their services. A bride from Canada learned this the hard way after the court ordered her to pay $115,000 CAD (nearly $89,500) for trashing a wedding photographer online and ruining her business.

The digital revolution lead to there being more photographers today than ever before, and with so many people calling themselves professional photographers, clients are able to choose from a wide range of prices and experience.

As is the case with so many of fields, you usually get what you pay for. This was a lesson Ashlea and Daniel Howard from Sydney learned the hard way, after they reportedly hired a local builder and hobbyist photographer to document their wedding.

The dispute between the couple and the photographer, Lee Maxwell Judd, has taken to social media, where a photo of the couple was posted along with the following caption: “Ugliest bride I have ever photographed. Winged the whole time. Bridezilla #1”.
