2020 is… well, it’s 2020. There’s never been a year in this planet’s history that we can compare it to. But, it’s pretty nuts. Right now, much of California and other western US states are suffering from some major wildfires which have so far killed at least 23, destroyed hundreds of homes and caused over 500,000 people to evacuate.

The fires seem more intense than in previous years and has actually caused some cities, like San Francisco to resemble scenes from the movie Blade Runner 2049, as the drone footage above from YouTuber DoctorSbaitso shows. If you watch the Blade Runner 2049 trailer from 58 seconds in, you’ll see exactly what people are talking about.

The hotly anticipated follow up to Ridley Scott’s 1982 masterpiece, Blade Runner, is finally here. Blade Runner 2049 is largely being hailed as a cinematography success, although it isn’t performing quite as well as expected. One thing that has resonated with people, though, is the colour grade. Especially after yesterday in the UK.

In this video from Theo Miesner we learn how we to create this orange apocalyptic look look in post using DaVinci Resolve. Theo also shows us quickly how we can get a similar effect straight in the camera.

Blade Runner 2049, the upcoming sequel to the 1982 hit Bladerunner, is, unsurprisingly getting a lot of people very excited. As bits of information about the film comes out here and there, it just heightens the anticipation. A new featurette released recently builds that up even more. Showing some incredibly beautiful shots, but also offering some behind the scenes insight from various people.

One of those people is legendary DP, Roger Deakins. Over the years, Deakins has worked on a vast array of movies. The Shawshank Redemption, Skyfall, O Brother, Where Art Thou? and A Beautiful Mind to name just a few. But it appears that even he hadn’t seen anything quite like this before.
