Blackmagic significantly drops the price of its Atem Mini, Mini Pro and Mini Pro ISO live stream switchers

Blackmagic has just made a pretty significant price drop across most of its popular Blackmagic Atem Mini product line video switchers. The 8-input Atem Mini Extreme series remain at their original prices, but the 4-input Atem Mini, Atem Mini Pro and Atem Mini Pro ISO, however, have had very large chunks knocked off each of their prices.

The base model Atem Mini has dropped from $295 to $195, the Atem Mini Pro sees a $200 drop going from $495 to $295 and the Atem Mini Pro ISO, which will allows you to record all four video signals, as well as the final mix, has seen the largest drop, going from $795 down to $495.

The Blackmagic Atem Mini Pro ISO (and its siblings) have become awfully popular during the last year or so due to lockdowns and the newfound remote video needs of the planet’s population. But the typical setup for an Atem Mini Pro and devices like it is positioned squarely on the desktop. Well, what if you want to go portable?

That was the need for David Joshua Ford, who decided to merge all his kit into one for the ultimate portable Atem Mini Pro rig, 10.1″ screen and wireless video transmitter, audio, the lot. In this video, he goes over the build and how it all works together. There’s no camera in this rig, but it’s easy to bolt one in there, as David demonstrates.

If you are like everyone else stuck at home, trying to live stream, you probably know about live switching. A switcher is a box that lets you control multiple cameras; The live part enables you to push the stream into Facebook or Youtube. Black magic has a basic ATEM mini for four cameras for $300. Now Feelworld has the LIVEPRO L1 – a four-camera switcher with a frigging LCD for the same price.

Blackmagic Design has just announced the new Atem Mini Pro, a streaming-focused update to the popular live streaming switcher announced at IBC last year. To go along with it, the Blackmagic Camera 6.9 update for the Pocket 4K and Pocket 6K adds direct support for the Atem Mini Pro, letting you remotely control and match up to four of the cameras from the new live production switcher.

Blackmagic CEO and co-founder, Grant Petty went on a live stream earlier to make the new announcements. If you haven’t seen the Atem Mini yet, Grant goes into a pretty in-depth overview of what the original does before talking about the new Atem Mini Pro about 15 minutes in.

While we were at IBC 2019, we heard Blackmagic had a new toy for live streamers. The Blackmagic Atem Mini. It’s a four HDMI device switcher designed specifically for live streaming with multiple cameras or other devices with HDMI outputs. We went over to their stand during the show to check it out and find out more about it.
