Film crew arrested for sneaking fake bomb at Newark Airport, facing $13,000 fine

On Thursday afternoon, a TV crew was arrested at Newark Liberty International Airport for trying to sneak a fake bomb in their carry-on luggage. They are reportedly working for CNBC and they wanted to pull a prank to film it for a show. However, they were quickly busted and they are now facing charges and up to $13,000 in fines.

Photographer and model arrested over nude photoshoot at ancient Egyptian temple

From time to time, photography could get you in trouble. For Photographer Jesse Walker and model Marisa Papen, the trouble came while they were shooting nudes in an ancient temple in Luxor, Egypt. They tried hiding from the guards to take the shots, but they got busted. As a result, they faced extremely unpleasant situations and spent a night in a jail cell.

Drone operator arrested in Arizona for interfering with firefighters. Again

On June 24, a man flew a drone over a forest fire in Prescott, Arizona. This caused eight fire-combating aircrafts to land, due to the increased risk for the pilots and the firefighters. Right after the incident, the investigation took place, and the authorities have now published that they’ve arrested the man.

According to AZ Central, Gene Alan Carpenter from Prescott Valley was arrested on charges of endangerment and unlawful operation of an unmanned aircraft. Among other things, he was charged based on the photos of Goodwin Fire he put on his website.

UK police make their first arrest using facial recognition technology

The South Wales Police confirmed this Tuesday that they’ve arrested a man thanks to the automatic facial recognition technology (AFR). As they confirmed to Ars Technica, this was the first time AFR was used to perform an arrest, although it has been used for a while by the UK police forces.

The officers used a camera-equipped surveillance van to scan the passers-by. The AFR recognized the face of a man from the police’s database, which led to the arrest.

Police tells attorney he can’t film them, Police Chief invites citizens to film the police in response

Here is an interesting turn of events. According to the Washington post, what started a police falsely telling an attorney/uber driver that he can’t film them, ended up with the police chief issuing a statement where he invites the public to film cops.

This “incident” started when Jesse Bright, a North Carolina attorney got stopped over by the police. Bright, who pays his school loans by Ubering (is that a word?),  was told by one of the officers that he is not allowed to shoot them according to a “new law”.

Judging groups of people based on a small sampling is never advisable. I mean, heck, imagine if people looked at me and simply assumed all American were self-righteous jerks? What a world that would be… But, there are always a few who give cause for others to regard the group with suspicion. This time, it’s photographers in the hot seat.

Last month, a photographer is Jacksonville Beach, FL was arrested on charges of video voyeurism after he allegedly hid a digital camera in the dressing room of his studio…and filmed a 16-year-old girl dressing and undressing.

As well as his creative visual work, John uses 3D printing, electronics and programming to create his own photography and filmmaking tools and consults for a number of brands across the industry.

Dunja Djudjic is a multi-talented artist based in Novi Sad, Serbia. With 15 years of experience as a photographer, she specializes in capturing the beauty of nature, travel, and fine art. In addition to her photography, Dunja also expresses her creativity through writing, embroidery, and jewelry making.
