Facial recognition software allegedly sent an innocent black man to jail for a crime he did not commit. The man had never even set foot in the state where the robbery took place, however, issues with the technology misidentified him as the perpetrator.

Randall Reid says he has never been to Lousiana, and certainly never stole $10,000 of designer handbags. In fact, Reid was three states away in his home state of Georgia when the crime occurred. However, that didn’t stop New Orleans police from using facial recognition software to find and arrest Reid for the crimes.

An Iranian photojournalist that was to travel to Qatar to realize his dream of photographing the football World Cup has been arrested and detained in his home country.

Since Arya Jafari’s arrest, his family has apparently heard no news of his whereabouts. Jafari joins more than 40 journalists and photographers that have been jailed recently in Iran.

Gallery owner arrested for forged and stolen Ansel Adams photographs

A Michigan gallery owner was arrested by the FBI for counts of theft and forgery of famous photographs by Ansel Adams. The gallery owner allegedly defrauded mostly elderly clients when they trusted her to sell the photographs on their behalf. Altogether the combined value of the works is estimated to be around the region of $1.6 million.

Wendy Halsted Beard was arrested on Friday after police raided her home in Birmingham, Michigan. She was charged with mail and wire fraud and accused of orchestrating a scheme involving photographs that she received on consignment.

Man who bragged about being in the U.S. Capitol riot arrested for assaulting a photographer

One of the most shocking events in the U.S. last year was the U.S. Capitol riots. On Wednesday 6 January 2021, hundreds of Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol Building to protest the election results.

During the riots, multiple people were assaulted and injured, many of them being journalists. One of the men who attacked the police and an AP photographer was charged with an assault and has been arrested.

A female TikTok influencer from Egypt, Haneen Hossam, recently had her content on the platform send her to jail. The only thing she did was what influencers generally do – she invited and taught other users to monetize their social media activity. For this, the young woman was charged with “human trafficking” and sentenced to three years in prison.

A French tourist has been arrested in Iran after he was caught flying a drone. He was accused of espionage and arrested in 2020, and he has been sentenced to eight years in prison.

Woman sentenced to 7 days jail, $2000+ fine and 2-year ban for walking on Yellowstone thermal pool

A 26-year-old woman from Connecticut, USA has received a sentence of 7 days in jail for leaving the protective boardwalk in Yellowstone National Park. Madeline S. Casey was visiting the Wyoming based National Park in July when she was caught on video stepping off the covered path onto the fragile crust and approaching a thermal pool. Not only did she end up with a jail sentence, but she also has to pay over $2000 in fines and is banned from visiting the park for 2 years.

Woman (28) trespasses high school and poses as student to gain more Instagram followers

Yes, this actually happened. A 28-year-old woman from Miami Beach trespassed a high school. She pretended to be a school girl looking for a registration office to pass through the security and then caused multiple incidents that eventually led to her arrest. And why? So she could gain more Instagram followers among the students.

A fire chief from Alabama recently pulled out a gun on a real estate photographer and a realtor who arrived at the house he was selling. The man claimed that he thought a camera was a gun, he smashed it against the ground, and the victims claim that it was, in fact, all because of the color of their skin.
