What happens when a portrait photographer is asked to photograph a horse

As a photographer, I’m asked to do some strange things sometimes, and I’m always up for the challenge!

I started getting into photography 3 years ago when my wife told me she wanted some good photos of our kids as they were growing up. She got me a Samsung NX500 camera and I fall in love with photography, teaching myself everything I know from watching YouTube videos.

I’ve done weddings, engagements, maternity, newborns, seniors, family’s, kids, products, businesses, and fashion. Most of what I do includes portraits.

I’m always pushing myself to try new things and I love to be challenged. I’ve found that experience is the best way to learn. So when someone asks me to do something I’ve never done before, I jump right in!

Photographers spends years photographing rats to break the stereotypes about them

What’s your first thought when you think of rats? Filthy? Contagious? Dangerous? Well, there is a lot beyond that, and these rodents hide a lot of wonderful traits behind the stereotypes we have about them. French photographer Diane Özdamar dedicated years of her life to break this negative image.

She captured many rats in a photo series that will melt your heart and make you realize how sweet these creatures can be. I chatted with Diane about her process, which involves a lot of love, patience, and DIY approach. And as a result – there are photos of rats that could make you adopt one as a pet. Or actually, two, as rats need a companion of the same sex to have a normal happy life.

You’ll go nuts over these squirrels on the miniature set of a photo shoot

Ashly Deskins is back with new furry photos! Ashly and her squirrel friends took over social media this winter with her photographs featuring the adorable furry crew. She captured the squirrels interacting with various human-centric scenes such as watching the Superbowl and voting.

Deskins painstakingly created the tiny set-ups, curated the squirrel interactions and patiently waited for the perfect moment to capture the squirrels on set. With all the viral buzz going a calendar of images was created with portions of the proceeds going to a local wildlife rescue group.

Photographer shows dogs from underneath in this fun photo series

Perhaps you remember the viral “Under-Cats” project by Lithuanian photographer Andrius Burba. After publishing this series of photos and the accompanying book, Andrius and his team went on working on several similar projects, but with different animals. And if you are a dog person, you’re gonna love this one.

Andrius’ latest project, “Under-Dogs,” shows dogs photographed from underneath. Just like his previous projects, the photos are well made, funny and they want to make you hug your dog (or any dog, actually) and rub its fluffy belly. We spoke to Andrius about the photos, the gear he used and the challenges he encountered. And he also answered to a burning question – who is better at posing, cats or dogs?

Being a photographer or videographer is not easy, as you need to deal with all sorts of challenges and all kinds of people. But animal photographers are among those I admire most. It’s difficult to capture animals and make them do what you want. With them, you almost never know what they will do. Sometimes even the wild animals are sweet, and they come for a cuddle. Photographer Gets Wild Chipmunks to Play Star Wars

Photographing pets can be challenging, and photographing wildlife from a distance can be a tedious and time-consuming process.  But, what happens when you want a wild animal to play Star Wars with your action figure collection?  Photographer and Lego master Chris McVeigh was determined to show us.

Armed with a camera, action figures, and a whole lot of nuts (we’re assuming it took balls, too), Chris forged a kinship with a harmonious collective of chipmunks living in his parent’s backyard.  Taking advantage of their depressed socioeconomic status, he was able to lure them into being performers in his own take on the classic saga…without having to composite any images.

Photographing Lions From 4 Meters Distance

To me, black and white photography is one of the most mesmerizing art forms ever created and has the ability to draw a viewer into a scene like few others.  Swedish photographer Pekka Järventaus capitalizes on its detailed nuances in “Prowling with Lions,” an ongoing photography project focused solely around the lions of Africa.  Unlike some photographers who are content with simply snapping a good image of a captive lion, Pekka searches for truly wild animals roaming freely on the savanna, getting up close and personal with some of the most fearsome beasts on the planet.
