Being a camera enthusiast can sometimes land you in some hot water (and not just with your spouse when you’ve bought a new lens!). An American Airlines flight from Indianapolis was forced to take an emergency landing at New York’s La Guardia airport after a passenger reported “erratic and suspicious activity” of a fellow passenger when he pulled out a vintage camera mid-flight.
Photographer claims American Airlines lost her $13,000 worth of gear
Award-winning photographer Michelle Frankfurter recently went through quite a nightmare. She says that American Airlines lost her gear after making her check in her bag. Her cameras, lenses and other equipment that was in the bag had the value of $13,000 and she says it took her years to buy it. But once the plane landed and she went to claim her baggage: the bag with the equipment just wasn’t there.
Boston Airplane Grounded After Wing Selfie
We’ve seen plenty of cases where people endangered or lost their own lives for a selfie, but in this case it could have ended in a tragedy of massive proportions.
An employee at Boston’s Logan International Airport climbed the wing of a Boeing 737 for a selfie, leading to the airplane being temporarily taken out of service.
