Do aliens exist? Annick Donkers explores it in her photo project Un-Identified

Personal photography projects combine both reflection and exploration. Often photographers will find an area or subject they are connected to and use this medium to understand and represent it. For Mexico City-based Annick Donkers, her photobook Un-Identified both retells a formative experience witnessing a UFO while connecting with others who shared similar alien encounters. Through portraiture, astral imagery, and heavy research into the mysterious world of theories, she provides a safe space for these personal stories to be received, as they help expand upon the many questions of humanity’s place in the universe.

Curiosity rover snaps a “doorway” on Mars, sparks conspiracy theories

NASA’s Curiosity rover has shared all kinds of photos with us, from remarkable discoveries to “tourist selfies.” But a recent photo it captured has made people’s imagination run wild.

On 7 May, Curiosity took a photo of what appears to be a “doorway” carved into a Martian rock. It’s perfectly flat and rectangle-shaped, so it has sparked all sorts of conspiracy theories from the moment it was released.

Alaskan locals photograph strange column of smoke and provoke conspiracy theories but there’s a simple explanation

“It looks like something out of a Peter Jackson movie,” says one commenter. “A wormhole portal to another dimension” suggests another. Various musings about an aircraft going down, a rocket launch, meteors and alien invasions ensue. But what exactly did residents of Lazy Mountain, Alaska photograph?

From the images, it appears to be a column of smoke reaching down to the horizon. However, it looks nothing like any normal aircraft contrail that you would normally see. As rumour grew of a potential crash State Troopers moved in to investigate.

Alex Baker is a portrait and lifestyle driven photographer based in Valencia, Spain. She works on a range of projects from commercial to fine art and has had work featured in publications such as The Daily Mail, Conde Nast Traveller and El Mundo, and has exhibited work across Europe

Dave Williams is an accomplished travel photographer, writer, and best-selling author from the UK. He is also a photography educator and published Aurora expert. Dave has traveled extensively in recent years, capturing stunning images from around the world in a modified van. His work has been featured in various publications and he has worked with notable brands such as Skoda, EE, Boeing, Huawei, Microsoft, BMW, Conde Nast, Electronic Arts, Discovery, BBC, The Guardian, ESPN, NBC, and many others.

John Aldred is a photographer with over 20 years of experience in the portrait and commercial worlds. He is based in Scotland and has been an early adopter - and occasional beta tester - of almost every digital imaging technology in that time. As well as his creative visual work, John uses 3D printing, electronics and programming to create his own photography and filmmaking tools and consults for a number of brands across the industry.

Dunja Djudjic is a multi-talented artist based in Novi Sad, Serbia. With 15 years of experience as a photographer, she specializes in capturing the beauty of nature, travel, and fine art. In addition to her photography, Dunja also expresses her creativity through writing, embroidery, and jewelry making.
