I am a big advocate for doing everything retoucher needs to do with a few tools as possible. Masking is one of this things that can be perfectly done on Photoshop. There is a range of tools and ways to approach masking from very basic raw selections to precisely calculated and adjusted masks. So you don’t need anything else except Photoshop for the masking in vast majority of cases.

Unfortunately, Topaz Remask masking technology is very good, super precise and easier to use with complex selections than Photoshop. It’s hard to resist not to use this software.

Creating cinemagraphs for the beauty genre

I wanted to do a beauty/cinemagraph project for a long while. About two years ago, I saw the site cinemagraphs.com. Their fashion cinemagraphs were extremely tastefully done. I really enjoyed viewing the images. These images really consumed my mind for a while. I’ve been looking for a photographer to collaborate with and create images in the same genre. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find one. Until recently when Wendy Hope agreed to do such project with me, but for beauty genre instead of fashion.

Alex Baker is a portrait and lifestyle driven photographer based in Valencia, Spain. She works on a range of projects from commercial to fine art and has had work featured in publications such as The Daily Mail, Conde Nast Traveller and El Mundo, and has exhibited work across Europe

Dave Williams is an accomplished travel photographer, writer, and best-selling author from the UK. He is also a photography educator and published Aurora expert. Dave has traveled extensively in recent years, capturing stunning images from around the world in a modified van. His work has been featured in various publications and he has worked with notable brands such as Skoda, EE, Boeing, Huawei, Microsoft, BMW, Conde Nast, Electronic Arts, Discovery, BBC, The Guardian, ESPN, NBC, and many others.

John Aldred is a photographer with over 20 years of experience in the portrait and commercial worlds. Dunja Djudjic is a multi-talented artist based in Novi Sad, Serbia. With 15 years of experience as a photographer, she specializes in capturing the beauty of nature, travel, and fine art. In addition to her photography, Dunja also expresses her creativity through writing, embroidery, and jewelry making.
