There are plenty of tips and tricks for making the best out of product photography. Other than gear, lighting, composition, and other photography-related strategies, there are also a lot of psychological tricks involved in taking a photo that will sell the product.

One of these strategies is typical of advertising photos of watches. If you’ve ever noticed that they’re usually set to 10:10 in photos, there’s a good reason behind it. It’s all about psychology, and in this article, we’ll tell you more about it.

Popular gym-wear brand slammed for lack of diversity in leaked image from photo shoot

Active-wear brand Gymshark has provoked anger after a behind-the-scenes image from a recent photoshoot was leaked on Facebook. The image shows 7 models, all of which are no larger than a US size 4. It has since caused an outcry from women demanding representation of larger body sizes.

The behind-the-scenes photo was leaked last week after the brand’s promotional photoshoot in London. Despite obvious efforts towards inclusivity, many commenters felt that Gymshark had fallen short in this aspect.

Students hang a huge fake ad of themselves in McDonald’s to protest against Asian ad discrimination. It’s still there 51 days later

One day at a McDonald’s restaurant, Jevh Maravilla was sitting with his friend and noticed that there were no Asian in any of the ad posters. At the same time, he saw a blank wall and had a crazy idea: what if they put a photo of themselves up there? The idea soon became reality, and the guys managed to hang a professional-looking poster with them as the models. And the funny thing is – no one noticed anything unusual for almost two months.

Ina hilarious video, Jevh shares how they did it, from planning the shoot to hanging it on the McDonald’s wall. And I must say it’s some high-quality trolling.

Women’s suit company reverses gender roles in this advertising campaign using naked men as props

This advertising campaign is sure to raise a few eyebrows. Suistudio, a company which makes suits for women, has decided to do something a little different with a familiar theme for their new marketing. A total role reversal. Women in suits and naked guys sprawled around as props. Personally, I think it’s pretty awesome.

I’m going to say it because I have to say it. Some of you may find the images below NSFW. I suppose, though, that will depend on where you work. I don’t like that I had to censor the image above to appease the social media gods, either.

We are surrounded by commercials, promotional images and all sorts of advertising material. Most of us take it for granted and doesn’t think much about the message these materials send. But an L.A. based photographer, Raffael Dickreuter, paid attention to advertising campaigns of famous brands and noticed something very negative about them – they lack diversity.

Alex Baker is a portrait and lifestyle driven photographer based in Valencia, Spain. She works on a range of projects from commercial to fine art and has had work featured in publications such as The Daily Mail, Conde Nast Traveller and El Mundo, and has exhibited work across Europe

Dave Williams is an accomplished travel photographer, writer, and best-selling author from the UK. He is also a photography educator and published Aurora expert. Dave has traveled extensively in recent years, capturing stunning images from around the world in a modified van. His work has been featured in various publications and he has worked with notable brands such as Skoda, EE, Boeing, Huawei, Microsoft, BMW, Conde Nast, Electronic Arts, Discovery, BBC, The Guardian, ESPN, NBC, and many others.

John Aldred is a photographer with over 20 years of experience in the portrait and commercial worlds. He is based in Scotland and has been an early adopter - and occasional beta tester - of almost every digital imaging technology in that time. As well as his creative visual work, John uses 3D printing, electronics and programming to create his own photography and filmmaking tools and consults for a number of brands across the industry.

Dunja Djudjic is a multi-talented artist based in Novi Sad, Serbia. With 15 years of experience as a photographer, she specializes in capturing the beauty of nature, travel, and fine art. In addition to her photography, Dunja also expresses her creativity through writing, embroidery, and jewelry making.
