Having been a school and graduation Photographer for 20 years, I have changed my lights several times, always looking at improving my workflow, quality and stability light output, photographing hundreds of pupils per school per day, the importance of stable, colour consistent lighting is essential for fast post-editing and printing.

By far the best and most rewarding move was to go all battery-powered lighting in 2015. I will give a few details of how I have tweaked my kit over the years to get to my perfect balance of power, weight set up and transport.

First look at the Godox AD600Pro / Pixapro Citi600Pro / Flashpoint Xplor600 Pro

The names under which Godox gear is rebranded around the world can get a little confusing at times. Here in the UK, this is the Pixapro CITI600 Pro. In the USA it’s the Flashpoint Xplor600 Pro and the Godox AD600Pro depending on where you buy it. In various other countries, it’s sold under other names, too. From here, I’ll just call it the “600Pro”. But wherever you buy it, no matter what it’s called, this is an outstanding portable strobe. I’ve had one myself for a few weeks now (review coming soon), and it never fails to impress me with its speed and power.

The AD600 Pro vs. The Profoto B1X vs. The Broncolor Siros 800L

In 2016 I made a video comparing the Profoto B1 and Godox AD600. Since then both models have had an updated release and Broncolor has also released the Siros 800 and 400. I decided to put all three models head to head to help people decide which is the best option. I compare these 3 models because they are very high powered lights that feature an attached battery, remote power control, and all of the features that photographers look for in a strobe designed for location-based work.

Godox accidentally leaks new AD600Pro strobe with much needed upgrades

Back in October, we reported that this would be on the way, a new Godox AD600 replacement. Now it seems the rumours were true, although there isn’t been an official announcement. Godox accidentally leaked it early this morning by publishing the new product’s page to their website.

That product is the Godox AD600 Pro, and it has a couple of quite significant upgrades over the current model AD600. While the actual 600Ws power consumption doesn’t change, the bulb design could potentially result in almost a stop more power. It has a full power recycle time of less than 1 second, and the modelling light gets brighter by almost two stops.
