ACD Systems releases ACDSee Photo Studio for Mac 9 with face detection, new UI features and snapshots

ACD Systems has announced ACDSee Photo Studio for Mac 9. The newest version of the all-in-one photo editor for Mac comes with some major UI enhancements as well as facial detection and recognition for naming and organising your photos. A new Develop pane helps you to “easily take control of your Develop mode workflow” and lets you store snapshots of complex image operations.

Billing itself as “the go-to Mac product for all your photography needs”, Photo Studio for Mac 9 comes with a new Info Palette that helps you to keep an eye on the metadata of your photos. It also includes keyword and category filtering to help you organise and recall images more easily in the future. It also comes with ACDsee Mobile Sync for easily uploading your smartphone content straight to the desktop.

ACDSee Photo Studio Ultimate brings new smart AI features and cloud integration

ACD Systems has announced its new version of ACDSee Photo Studio Ultimate 2023. As is the trend, it sees the addition of new AI-powered features, including AI Face Edit and AI Actions. It also offers a new Advanced Search feature with enhanced AND/OR logic capabilities as well as tighter integration with Microsoft OneDrive. A new simplified Photomerge feature allows for easy panoramic stitching, HDR and focus stacking.

ACDSee challenges Adobe with Gemstone, its new Photoshop competitor

While it’s faced some challenge from companies like Serif with Affinity Photo, Adobe’s Photoshop is still the undisputed leader in its class when it comes to photo editing. But now imaging veterans ACD Systems have released their new Photoshop competitor, Gemstone as a free public beta that you can all have a play with.

It’s a new standalone application, just like Photoshop and Affinity Photo, with a lot of similar features. It brings over a lot of features from ACDSee’s own Photo Studio and Photo Editor products, too, and also offers full raw development for over 500 camera models with some neat looking non-destructive editing techniques.

ACDSee creators get into motion with their new Luxea video editing software

ACD Systems, makers of the popular (and long-running) ACDSee imaging software have announced that they’re making the move to video with their new Luxea video editing software. Their goal, they say, is to simplify the video editing process to save time and allow users to focus on the content, and not the editing.

Luxea supports resolutions up to 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) and frame rates up to 60 frames per second. you can also mix videos with still images and add audio tracks, text, transitions, effects, animations, filters and even do some chroma-keying if you ever fancied playing around with green screen.
