New firmware for seven of Canon’s RF mount lenses improves stability with the EOS R5 and R6

Canon has released new firmware for the Canon EOS R to add compatibility for their new 600mm f/11 STM, 800mm f/11 STM, RF 1.4x & RF 2.0x teleconverters and the new LP-E6NH battery.  They say that “operation of playing back through the multi-function bar has been improved”, too. No other changes have been mentioned.

They’ve also released firmware updates for seven of their RF mount lenses to improve compatibility with the in-body image stabilization found in the new Canon EOS R5 and EOS R6 mirrorless cameras for increased stability.

Behind The Scenes: Location Scouting & Shooting The Solar Eclipse On The Isle of Skye

We don’t get to witness a solar eclipse very frequently, so when one is scheduled to happen and you want to photograph it, you have to be willing to put in the footwork to make it happen. For some firsthand experience on the matter, check out this quick video from RedBull. The behind the scenes action takes you on location to the Isle of Skye (Scotland), as photographer Rutger Pauw does some location scouting for a solar eclipse photoshoot with professional athlete, Danny MacAskill.

Dave Williams is an accomplished travel photographer, writer, and best-selling author from the UK. He is also a photography educator and published Aurora expert. His work has been featured in various publications and he has worked with notable brands such as Skoda, EE, Boeing, Huawei, Microsoft, BMW, Conde Nast, Electronic Arts, Discovery, BBC, The Guardian, ESPN, NBC, and many others.

John Aldred is a photographer with over 20 years of experience in the portrait and commercial worlds. He is based in Scotland and has been an early adopter - and occasional beta tester - of almost every digital imaging technology in that time. As well as his creative visual work, John uses 3D printing, electronics and programming to create his own photography and filmmaking tools and consults for a number of brands across the industry.

Dunja Djudjic is a multi-talented artist based in Novi Sad, Serbia. With 15 years of experience as a photographer, she specializes in capturing the beauty of nature, travel, and fine art. In addition to her photography, Dunja also expresses her creativity through writing, embroidery, and jewelry making.
