Well, it looks like the rumour mill got it wrong this time. It was indeed correct about Sigma announcing the new 60-600mm f/4.5-6.3 DG DN OS Sports lens today – a lens that Sigma says is “the world’s first and only” 10x ultra-telephoto zoom lens on the market designed specifically for mirrorless cameras. It appears it was a little off, though, about Sigma’s introduction of Z-Mount into their lens lineup.
Anyway, the new Sigma lens offers the kind of large focal length ranges we’ve come to expect from “Bigma” lenses. With a minimum focal length of 60mm and a maximum focal length of 600mm, the lens is designed to cover various kinds of outdoor shooting, such as sports and wildlife at a wide range of distances. For now, though, it’s only going to be available in Sony E and Leica L mount. Sorry, Nikon shooters!
