Updated: rumored specs for the Nikon D5

The most recent update to the rumored specs for Nikon’s upcoming flagship DSLR, expected to be named the D5, confirms most previously mentioned specs, includes more info regarding the 4K video capabilities, mentions full HD slow motion and a possible decrease in the expected number of autofocus points.

Despite the possible decrease from previously rumored specs, meaning the number of autofocus points might “only” be doubled, Nikon Rumors says the new focusing module will include larger coverage.

Check Out Some Of The First 4K Ultra HD Footage Shot On The iPhone 6s Plus

The filmmakers over at RYOT have just released a short mini-documentary that was shot entirely on the iPhone 6s Plus, which is some of the first footage we’re seeing made with Apple’s latest smartphone model. David Darg & Bryn Mooser, the filmmakers from RYOT, took their 6s Plus to Haiti, where they made a vibrant film about an inspiring Haitian gentleman.

The iPhone 6s Plus features a 12MP camera, capable of shooting in 4k, which also marks the first time an iPhone has seen a megapixel boost since 2011.[Read More…]

Canon is developing a 120 megapixel DSLR and 8K cinema camera

The photography world has not yet settled after Canon’s announcement yesterday that it has developed a 250 megapixel sensor and the Japanese giant is once again making headlines.

Unlike the record-breaking sensor which is not expect to make its way to consumer cameras anytime soon, if at all, today’s announcement unveils the company’s next generation cameras including an-EOS series DSLR with a 120 megapixel CMOS sensor.

Other than the DSLR that will make the 5Ds look like an obsolete toy, Canon is also developing an EOS series 8K cinema camera and an 8K reference display.

This Footage Will Make You Wish You Lived Near a Volcano

Every once in a while a volcano erupts and it is always a spectacular sight to see, but Martin Heck of Timestorm Films was able to create a video as magnificent as the eruption itself.

Volcano Calbuco, located in Southern Chile, erupted on April 22, 2015 for the first time in four decades and reminded us just how mind-blowingly gorgeous volcanoes can be.

The Canon 5D Mark IV Will Come in Two Versions; One Dedicated to Video

There have been plenty of specs and rumors going around lately regarding the Mark III’s successor. Just yesterday we went over some of the rumors and why some previously unlikely specs seem more logical after the release of the C300 Mark II and the XC10.

One of the rumors that have been floating around the web is that the Mark III replacement will not have 4K video, but rather that the high-end video capability will be included in a dedicated 5D-series camera.

New info reveals a bit of new specs, but mainly brings back another rumor about sensor size and organizes all the rumored specs.

If true, we will be seeing two new cameras in a few months time – the 5D Mark IV and 5D Mark IVc.

The Crazy 5D Mark IV Specs Don’t Seem So Crazy Anymore

A couple of months ago we posted a set of specs supposedly belonging to a Canon test camera. Despite looking like a possible 1D X Mark II, that option was ruled out and it was mentioned that the camera could be testing an assortment of features that wouldn’t necessarily all show up in the same one body (or at all).

Another possibility was that the specs belong to the much anticipated 5D Mark IV, and recent rumors and developments seem to make this option a whole lot more logical now than it was back then.

Canon Is All Over 4K; Announces Two Camcorders, a Monitor and a Proprietary Video Format

Earlier today Canon officially announced the XC10 – a compact, fixed-lens 4K video and digital stills camera, targeting aspiring filmmakers and enthusiasts. The camera is a first step towards upgrading to one of the high-end EOS Cinema cameras.

Alongside the XC10 Canon also revealed the professional EOS C300 Mark II cinema camera, with impressive 4K capabilities and a dynamic range of up to 15 stops.

Not stopping just camcorders, the company has also developed its own video format targeting 4K professional camcorders and unveiled a new 24-inch 4K reference display.

Watch the First Ever Phantom Flex4K Drone Footage

Drone photography has become increasingly popular in recent years leading to some truly incredible video shot from an unusual and often previously impossible angle.

That being said, when it comes to tech specs and resolution the guys at Brain Farm just blew any drone footage you’ve ever seen so far out of the water it’s not even funny.

By pairing a Phantom Flex4K with a custom made Aerigon UAV, Brain Farm captured the world’s first Ultra High Definition, 4K aerial drone footage which has been described as a “cinematic game changer”.

Sony 4K Eagle-Cam Used to Capture a Record-Breaking Wildlife Awareness Campaign

Conservation movement Freedom Conservation successfully set a new world record for the highest recorded bird flight from a man-made structure, with the help of an Imperial Eagle called Darshan.

The flight, starting at the roof of the Burj Khalifa, was documented by attaching a Sony 4K Action Cam to the eagle.

Hoping to raise awareness of the plight of threatened wildlife, the group’s eagles have flown from several iconic landmarks in the past such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris and London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral.

The First Nikon 4K Camera Rumored To Be Coming

According to the latest rumors, Nikon’s next mirrorless camera will include 4K video.

The Nikon 1 J5 is expected to be announced in the next few weeks, and if this rumor is true it will be Nikon’s first camera with 4K video recording capabilities.

While Nikon DSLR users will not be getting 4K just yet, this could be good news for them as well.
