After some specs leaked, it comes as no surprise: the Fujifilm XF 30mm f/2.8 R LM WR macro lens has now been officially announced. Okay, we did know some facts about the lens, but the leaked specs didn’t tell us everything. So, let’s see more details about the lens and what it has to offer.
Complete Fuji X-T5 specs and XF 30mm f/2.8 R LM WR info leaks ahead of official announcement
It’s always difficult to tell whether information on Fujifilm cameras is actually a leak or a… “leak”. Fuji’s always had a bit of a playful relationship with leaks, even parodying them to market the Fuji GFX 100S. But as always seem to happen when Fuji (or just about any manufacturer) is getting ready to announce a new camera, the leaks inevitably come.
We’ve already had a little info on the Fujifilm X-T5 as well as mention of an upcoming XF 30mm f/2.8 R LM WR lens to be announced on the same day, but now we have pretty much the entire spec sheet, along with a few specs on the new lens.
Fuji adds three new 8mm f/3.5, f/2.8 30mm macro and 56mm f/1.2 X mount lenses to its roadmap
Well, it seems to be a moment for lenses, huh? After Fuji’s two new lenses with the Fuji X-H2S announcement, Sigma’s new lens and Sony’s three new APS-C lenses, Fuji’s added three more to the X mount lens roadmap. The three new lenses are the Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2, the XF 30mm f/2.8 R Macro and the XF 8mm f/3.5. All three of them sound like they’ll potentially be a lot of fun to play with.
Fujifilm says that they’ve been expanding the lineup of XF lenses to “broaden the appeal of premium image quality and advanced mobility made possible by the X Mount system”. This basically means that they know they’re lacking in a couple of areas and now they’re trying to make up for it. Of course, that’s not a bad thing. The more the merrier, I say, when it comes to lenses!
