Irix expands its cinema lens lineup to include Fuji X mount

Irix has today announced the addition of Fuji X mount to the list of mounts in which their lenses are available. This adds to the growing number of mounts, including Canon EF, Canon RF, Nikon Z, PL Mount, Micro Four Thirds and Sony E. The Irix lens lineup is still fairly small, covering only seven lenses – and even two of those are fairly similar to each other. But the addition of X mount will be very welcome to Fuji shooters.

All lenses in the Irix lineup feature a unified design to bring consistency to the range with aperture and focus ring positions and overall dimension and weight. This makes it easy to swap out on camera rigs and gimbals without needing to reconfigure or rebalance your camera.

Irix starts to bridge the focal length gaps with new Irix Cine 21mm T1.5 lens

Irix have been producing some pretty outstanding lenses over the last few years for what they cost, bringing us 11mm T4.3, 15mm T2.6, 30mm T1.5, 45mm T1.5 and 150mm T3.0 macro (or f/4, f/2.4, f/1.4, f/1.4 and f/2.8 respectively for their photography alternatives). But there are a few noticeable gaps in that focal length lineup. Jumping from 15mm to 30mm is a pretty big leap.

Well, today, Irix has announced the new Irix Cine 21mm T1.5 to help bridge that gap a little. This full-frame lens offers the same level of quality and construction you’ve come to expect from the other lenses in the Irix lineup and Irix says that it’s built to offer the kind of detail and sharpness that something like 8K resolution video requires.

John Aldred is a photographer with over 20 years of experience in the portrait and commercial worlds. He is based in Scotland and has been an early adopter - and occasional beta tester - of almost every digital imaging technology in that time. As well as his creative visual work, John uses 3D printing, electronics and programming to create his own photography and filmmaking tools and consults for a number of brands across the industry.

Dunja Djudjic is a multi-talented artist based in Novi Sad, Serbia. With 15 years of experience as a photographer, she specializes in capturing the beauty of nature, travel, and fine art. In addition to her photography, Dunja also expresses her creativity through writing, embroidery, and jewelry making.
