I’m loving these weird and wonderful lenses that have been coming out over the last few years. It’s great to see the kinds of things companies are trying out, just to see how they’re received. Laowa’s Probe lens and the just announced AstrHori probe are two such examples of new weird lenses that have popped up. Funleader’s Caplens is another. And now they’ve updated their 18mm f/8 with a new “Pro” version.

The new Funleader Caplens 18mm f/8 Pro is a refresh of the original Caplens 18mm f/8 launched in 2019 via Kickstarter. It offers a minimum focus distance of only 30cm, shaving half a metre off the original lens, all the way out to infinity in several steps.

It’s been a while since we heard about the Funleader 18mm f/8.0 cap lens. Launched last October through a well-backed Kickstarter campaign, this wide angle lens essentially just looks like a body cap for your camera. But it’s actually, as you might have guessed, an 18mm wide-angle lens.

Well, now the lenses have gone out to all of the Kickstarter backers and now it’s on general sale. Not only that, but as well as the original Sony E and Leica L mount flavours, it’s now also available for Nikon Z, Canon RF and Fuji X mounts, too.

Scrolling through my Facebook feed, I stumbled upon a sponsored post for an interesting Kickstarter campaign promoting Funleader Cap Lens 18mm f/8.0. It’s a very slim, lightweight, and very cheap wide-angle lens. As the name says, it’s so slim, that it looks like a lens cap.

Long known throughout the world for quality, Zeiss are the first name many think of when it comes to luxury lenses. Today, Zeiss have announced three new lenses; 15mm f/2.8, 18mm f/2.8 and 135mm f/2 for both Nikon and Canon. These lenses are part of Zeiss’s Milvus line, designed to “fulfill the requirements of today’s powerful digital cameras and those of the future thanks to their high imaging performance”.

As with the other members of the Milvus family, the three new lenses contain what Zeiss calls “harmonious bokeh”. This is essentially a floating element design which compensates for errors at different distance settings. They also claim excellent flare and ghosting control thanks to the T* anti-reflective coatings.
