Canon launches their new CMOS sensor selling business platform

It’s not news that Canon was looking to sell their 120-megapixel CMOS sensor, but now they’ve set up a platform specifically for selling their sensors in the industrial market. Three sensors are currently listed on the new Canon CMOS Sensors website. There’s the 120MP sensor, along with a 2.76MP extreme low light sensitivity sensor and a 5MP global shutter CMOS sensor.

These three sensors, along with a fourth 250-megapixel sensor, will all be on display at VISION, the world’s leading machine vision trade fair.

Watch: Canon demonstrates the power of their new 120MP camera sensor

It’s been a couple of years since Canon announced a 120MP camera sensor. Now they have released a video which demonstrates how powerful this sensor is. In this video, you can see the comparison between the footage in full HD and 60 times higher resolution of the new Canon’s sensor.

Bye Bye Bayer; Canon’s 120MP Sensor Rumored to Be Based on Foveon-Like Technology

The Bayer filter was patented in 1976 and can be found in almost all digital camera sensors sold today.

While several alternatives have been suggested over the years, some more exciting than others, none caught on. This could soon change, though, as Canon Watch reports that the 120MP full frame sensor Canon is developing will not be based on Bayer technology.

Canon’s 120MP DSLR not likely to appear before 2017

Canon’s 120MP DSLR concept camera, which was on display at Canon EXPO this week, is said to be at least two years away according to Canon Rumors’ sources within the company.

The camera’s body type is also said to be undetermined at the moment, as Canon is waiting to see where it will ‘fit into the marketplace’.

As expected, Canon is also waiting on camera-related technologies to catch up, and luckily the announcement of this camera is likely to accelerate the development of new lenses.

Canon is developing a 120 megapixel DSLR and 8K cinema camera

The photography world has not yet settled after Canon’s announcement yesterday that it has developed a 250 megapixel sensor and the Japanese giant is once again making headlines.

Unlike the record-breaking sensor which is not expect to make its way to consumer cameras anytime soon, if at all, today’s announcement unveils the company’s next generation cameras including an-EOS series DSLR with a 120 megapixel CMOS sensor.

Other than the DSLR that will make the 5Ds look like an obsolete toy, Canon is also developing an EOS series 8K cinema camera and an 8K reference display.
