A new teaser released by Nikon for their new mirrorless camera suggests that they might be ditching the DSLR completely. It also offers a bit better look at the body & lens mount. We’re only days away from the official announcement of Nikon mirrorless camera. And while we wait for 23 August, Nikon is building hype by releasing teaser videos. Well, it looks like we won’t have to wait another week between the final teaser and the official announcement for Nikon’s upcoming new Z9 flagship mirrorless camera. The fourth and final teaser just went live and Nikon has also posted an official Z9 launch event, which will apparently last the entirety of October 28th, starting at 8am Eastern.
The fourth teaser hints at both the speed of the camera as well as its potential slow-motion video capabilities. Other than that, though, it doesn’t reveal much else. But, we don’t have long to wait now.

What probably none of us expected is that it would be Nikon themselves who leaked it. But that appears to be exactly what’s happened.

Well, Nikon’s latest annual report is out and it shows a $262 million write off in losses. The report says that Nikon has been facing challenges from the declining demand for camera gear from professionals and hobbyists, increased competition, the global silicon shortage and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite this, Nikon will soon be releasing their new Z9 flagship mirrorless camera and according to Nikon president Toshikazu Umatate, they’ll be increasing their Z mount lens lineup from its current 22 up to “nearly 30”.
Nikon has released a new teaser video for the upcoming Nikon Z9 mirrorless camera with the title “Z 9 is Coming”, suggesting an announcement may be imminent. But now it looks like we may be close to finding out. The new teaser does show off a few details of the new camera and Nikon has a new page showing off the teaser and confirming 8K resolution capability.
