Whether we like it or not, Instagram is still one of the best places for creators to showcase their work. Whether it’s photography, video, or any other kind of creative work, you’ll find many creatives on this platform. I’m one of them, sharing my articles and recipes, and I used to manage a YouTuber’s profile. And as both a creative and a regular user of Instagram, I’ve noticed some things that I find extremely annoying across all the profiles I manage. I want to address them in this article, and I can only hope that at least some of them will change with time.

You can shoot this Arizona landscape only if you win special lottery
There are some places that are hard to reach or it’s had to get a permit to photograph them. But if you want to shoot “The Wave” in Arizona, there’s a pretty unique permit process. You need to sign up for a special lottery that only ten photographers can win each day. photographer Todd Dominey was one of the lucky winners. In this fun and informative video, he shared his experience and a bit about the application process itself.
Instagram accused of “double standards”, “fat-shaming” after banning parody image but not the original [NSFW]
No matter how hard some influencers try to debunk the myth of “the perfect body,” there will always be those who promote it. Heck, even Instagram itself seems to prefer skinny, model-like women over us regular gals. The platform recently banned users from sharing Celeste Barber‘s semi-nude parody photo. It wouldn’t be a problem if the original image of a model Candice Swanepoel weren’t left untouched. After the scandal, Instagram quickly came under fire for “fat-shaming” and “double standards.”
Panasonic doesn’t believe Olympus shooters will switch to their MFT products
Although Japan Industrial Partners has essentially come out and said that it’s business as usual for Olympus as a camera brand and that it has big plans (particularly with video) for the Micro Four Thirds system in the future, many MFT shooters are still in doubt about what may come under the brand’s new ownership.
A report on 43Rumors today, also suggests that Panasonic isn’t all that confident in MFT’s future, either. They say that Panasonic doesn’t see a lot of potential for Olympus shooters to switch to Panasonic’s Micro Four Thirds products, suspecting that they’ll just stick with what they or move over to an APS-C or full-frame system.
The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards announces 2020 finalists and they’re serious meme material
The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards competition has never failed to make me laugh with its selection of comical photos of animals. And this year’s gallery is no exception. The contest has announced its 2020 finalists and they caused me to laugh out loud, and I’m sharing them hoping to get you to laugh, too.
Fox News pulls a Photoshop fail reporting fake news
Faking news and doctoring images is easier than ever nowadays, but sadly, it’s not reserved for “light” stuff that people share on Instagram. Fox News was recently accused of reporting fake news, and they got busted thanks to badly photoshopped images. And I mean really badly!
Instagrammers are being called out for using Black Lives Matter protests for self-promotion
If one thing’s for sure, no matter what’s going on in the world, no matter how bad, how serious it gets or what the potential consequences may be, people will do stupid stuff for social media. But that stupid stuff does not go unnoticed. After a number of social media “influencers” were seen to be exploiting Black Lives Matter protests for photoshoot opportunities, they started getting called out.
Ironically, perhaps, the one doing the calling out goes by the name of Influencers in the wild. George Resche, the man behind the account, says he originally started the profile as a joke, but it gained steam and gained a massive following. Now he’s using his platform to call out those taking advantage of the protests for personal gain.
Adobe Photoshop Camera brings Photoshop’s AI feature straight to your phone
Adobe Photoshop Camera was launched as a preview way back in November last year. And now, it’s finally out. It packs a bunch of AI features using Adobe Sensei, the same technology that you’ll see in Photoshop CC. And unlike most Adobe products, this one is completely free to download and use.
Hey photographers – When you give it away you diminish all of our work
I don’t think I’m a particularly brilliant photographer. Sure, I’ve carved out a little niche here in a small part of the world and my landscape photography is relatively well known amongst the local community, but I’m no big-shot Instagram influencer, I haven’t got a nationally or internationally recognisable name and I sure as shit do not earn a living from photography.
Instagram now lets you delete nasty comments in bulk
Instagram has released another feature aimed at dealing with nasty comments and trolls. Instead of deleting comments one by one, you can now do it in bulks and get rid of the trolling and nasty comments much faster.
