There are now several ways to upscale small photos without them losing quality. And now there’s another one that lets you do it from your phone or web browser in only a few seconds. Picsart has now added a brand new AI-powered tool that allows you to upscale small images (and keep them sharp!) in literally a couple of seconds. But is that a good thing? Let’s discuss.

Last month, Illinois filed a class action lawsuit against Google over privacy concerns. As the Google Photos app uses facial recognition, plaintiffs alleged that the company broke Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA). However, the company has settled, and it will now have to pay a total of $100 million to the app users.

High resolution DJI Mini 3 photos leak ahead of rumoured April 28th announcement
We’re only 10 days away from the rumoured launch date of the DJI Mini 3 and more new images of the <250g drone appear to have popped up online. And as well as the usual assortment of small, low-res social media shots courtesy of Jasper Ellens, it looks like DealsDrone managed to get their hands on some larger shots that show off the DJI Mini 3 in quite some detail.
Despite looking generally a bit beefier than its Mini 2 predecessor, the markings on the drone battery do specify that the drone still weighs 249g. It features a number of obstacle avoidance sensors (although not as many as some of us would like), we can see the microSD card and USB slots as well as the 24mm equivalent f/1.7 lens.
I designed and 3D printed my own grid for the Aputure MC and here’s why
I love shooting product photos and videos with the Aputure AL-MC. It’s such a versatile and powerful helper compared to its size. I use it on almost every product shoot.
There’s only one thing that is not ideal and that’s the light spill. The MC has a super wide angle of light spread, so you will get light spilling onto your background unless you have a big studio where you can put the background system a few meters away from your scene.
This guy 3D printed his own analogue 35mm movie camera and it actually works
We’ve seen – and featured – a lot of film cameras here on DIYP. Everything from 35mm, through medium format and even up to large format, not to mention more pinholes than we can count. But those cameras are usually of the stills variety. Cameras for photography. This one, though, from Yuta Ikeya is a little different. This one is for shooting movies, with 35mm film stock.
You don’t normally think of 3D printing as being a good use for such complex camera systems, and while that’s true to a degree, modern technology allows a few workarounds to overcome potential issues. Like using an Arduino to control the timing of a DC motor to drive a mechanically synchronised gear and cam system instead of more traditional methods of ancient cinema cameras.
How I modified a GameBoy camera to take astro and macro photos
This is a Gameboy Camera. A device that turns any Gameboy into a camera.
Released in 1998 and retailing for $50 (equivalent to $85 in today’s money) it was the smallest digital camera on the market at the time.
It works just like any other game for the Gameboy, it just slots into the back. And just like that, you’ve turned your handheld gaming console into a fully-fledged point-and-shoot camera. It was brilliant as the Gameboy’s large screen was used as the viewfinder.
