5 ways to get rid of chromatic aberration in Photoshop

Chromatic aberration (CA) can be a pain, especially in high contrast situations. It’s also called colour fringing. It’s most common in inexpensive consumer lenses, but pro glass is not immune. Shooting at extreme wide or tiny apertures can introduce it quickly even with the best gear.

You can take care of most chromatic aberration within Lightroom or ACR. Sometimes, though, only Photoshop can do the job well. In his new video, Jimmy McIntyre’s going to show you five different ways of dealing with it.

Editing a Cartoon Portrait in Photoshop (and a little Affinity Photo)

Following you will find a detailed guide on how to make these cartoonish portraits, but first  I must share how they came to be. If you just want the tutorial, jump a paragraph or two forward.

A few weeks ago I traveled to Birmingham UK, to hang out at the Photography Show. I met up with the people from DIY Photography and they interviewed me on my work, (you can view that interview here). I spent a few days hanging around the Inspired PhotoGear stand, where we played with Light Blasters, Lollipods, RoundFlash Dish and Ring’s and I fell in love with the Cosyspeed Holster Bag, which now houses my Olympus OMD.

Create Amazing Rainy Composite Images With This Great Photoshop Video Tutorial

One of the problems when trying to create the images we see in our head is that, in the real world, the constituent parts can be very difficult to get together in front of your camera all at the same time.

This is where compositing steps in.  Sometimes, you just have no choice, and you may need to photograph elements separately and then blend them together in post.

Photoshopped Photo Of An Innocent Canadian Sikh Portrayed As A Paris Terrorist Goes Viral

The internet and Photoshop are both amazing tools that have facilitated endless amounts of good deeds.

But as a Canadian Sikh by the name of Veerender Jubbal recently found out, they aren’t always used with the best intentions in mind.

A selfie Jubal posted online several months ago was photoshopped to make him look like a terrorist and was spread online presenting him as one of the terrorists responsible for the murderous Paris attacks.

Clearly a fake, the photo still went viral and was printed and shared by European news outlets.

Victoria’s Secret In Hot Water For Photoshop Disaster [NSFWish]

A little while back, Victoria’s Secret lunched a new line of underwear called Mesh-back Cheeky Panty. Now this usually wont land them an article in a photography related blog, but the photo VS posted on their social media channels [NSFW link] was an epic Photoshop fail.

The photo is showing a model wearing the underwear from behind but both the model’s legs and her bottom were missing something. In the case of her legs one leg was missing more meat than the other, and in the case of the bottom, one cheek had disappeared completely.

First Photoshop CC Update Fixes ‘Salt Line’ Artifacts and Crashing

We all like a little salt and pepper every now and then, but we aren’t huge fans of Photoshop adding it to our photos at random.  Last month we dug into how Photoshop CC 2015 was adding salt-like artifacts to images when using the healing brush.  Needless to say, this didn’t go over well with photographers using the feature.

Yesterday, Adobe released Photoshop 2015.0.1, a much-needed update that corrected this issue along with a variety of others, including crashing issues for both Mac and Windows users.

Color casts are quite possibly one of the most annoying and frustrating issues photographers encounter during post processing, but unfortunately sometimes they cannot be avoided. In other cases photographers simply do not know how to correct this issue in camera.

Often caused by certain types of light or filters, color casts can be a royal pain in the butt to remove and many try and fail to successfully do so.

Photoshop Masters Fumble Around Version 1.0

When I think of names such as Matt Kloskowski and Jared Platt I think of Photoshop gurus who will be able to walk me through anything the software has to offer, in their sleep.

While that might be true for the latest versions of Adobe software, watch what happens when Photoshop hall of famers and educators are asked to use Photoshop 1.0. Not even Photoshop CS 1, just 1.

Other than giving you a deeper sense of appreciation for just how awesome software is these days, this video will give you a few good laughs.

Kazakhstan’s new president official photos have been beauty-retouched to make him appear as a “fresh face”

The interim president of Kazakhstan Qasym-Zhomart Toqaev has been in the center of a recent Photoshop fail. In his official images, the leader’s face has been so obviously beauty-retouched, that they look like he applied beauty filters for Instagram. And as an assumption goes, it’s all done to make him look as a younger and as a “fresh face.”

Snickers Pokes fun at Retouchers With a Sports Illustrated Ad

Every once in a while we will see an epic photoshop fail making its way into the front page. Heck, even Victoria’s Secret had a Photoshop bloop a while back. Now, Snickers is building on those fails in a new ad featured in Sport Illustrated.

Sports Illustrated back cover does not target the general public, they do not even target photographers (is there a difference) they are targeting retouchers, with a brilliant ad.

According to Snickers , Photoshop fails happen when retouchers are tired (due to not eating sneakers, I suppose). I have to say it smiled pretty broadly when I saw that.
