DJI is giving away free microphones to fix the Osmo’s audio issues

Late last year, drone manufacturer DJI stepped out of their comfort zone and introduced to the world the DJI Osmo, a handheld, gyro-stabilized 4K camera.

While it wowed testers everywhere and seemed to perform great in bumpy situations, there was one area where it did not impress. Audio. So much so that we actually shared a tip on how to improve the audio of your Osmo.

It appears DJI has had its ears open though, as they have announced the DJI Osmo FlexiMic, an attachable microphone that will be available to all Osmo owners free of charge.

Starting January 29th, DJI will ship all Osmos with a FlexiMic. If you’ve purchased your Osmo already, DJI will make sure you get one too, starting in March.

If you purchased your Osmo directly from DJI, you will be receiving an email with a coupon code, which can be redeemed for a free FlexiMic on DJI’s online store.

If you’ve purchased your Osmo from another online retailer, DJI says to reach out to the retailer directly to receive a coupon code, although it seems slightly convoluted. The best bet if you didn’t purchase directly from DJI is to call them at 0755–8665–5264 and provide your serial number and contact information so that you may be sent a code to redeem.

While it’s slightly unfortunate that DJI had to do this in the first place, it’s an impressive gesture that Osmo users around the world will appreciate. No more DIY fixes, for better or worse.
