Zack Arias - Focus On What Matters

The next video by Zack Arias made for Scott Kelby is circulating the web now. As a person who always juggle between photography, family and day job, (and usually feel I don't have enough time to get any of them right)  this really helped me focus. Thank you Zack.

Focus on What Matters

Absolutely fantastic video, it is as much about life, no matter what we do, as it is about photography. As someone who is currently unemployed and transitioning into other things, photography included, I found it quite relevant. Thank you Zack and thank you, Scott.

Hi Jeff,

It is amazing how Zack have managed to capture some very simple and basic trues into this video. I agree that this can be applied to more than "just" photography. One of my main takes from this video is to do things with passion - photography or other.

Good luck on your transition, I hope you will find a new world in the path you are taking.

loved the video

Wow...simple yet powerful video. I'm not making a living off of photography but I've been struggling with the job recently...but it allows me time with my kids, fluid schedule, and I get to travel all over the place. This is what matters...otherwise I'm punching a time clock and missing my life.
Thanks!
Jack

nice

That was actually a pretty good video. I love the scenes and cinematography, and how he really identifies and questions himself on the whole. I find myself doing the same thing sometimes, even thought I'm not a professional. I just want my work to get better and stand out from the rest.

Thanks for posting that!

one great vid

Thank you for what you did, it was a great insiration.

Just what I needed.

Thanks for this. I'm so self-conscious about my work, and therefore it consumes my thoughts for the majority of the day. I'm getting married in two months, and I've been freaking out about whether I'm going to have the skills, clientele, and/or capital to make this business pay our bills and keep our stomachs full when the time comes. I sit at the edge of my seat in front of my computer screen slaving over DIY & strobist blogs through thousands of google searches to figure out how real photographers do what they do in hopes that it will give me the skills, clientele, and cash to get it done. This is just what I needed to keep me from losing all my hair.

Amazing, A Must See

I think everyone can relate to this video, excellent job. As someone with less experience than most other people in the field, I become very intimidated by other people's work. I experience the "winter" that Zack describes on a seemingly daily basis. Zack's insight and knowledge rekindled my desire to enjoy photography as a purely subjective artistic expression for myself and only myself. I was on the verge of giving up photography as a whole but this video helped me realize that I do photography for me.

Sorry for the rambling, great video.

Oh, just as a side note for the editors/staff, not really important BUT end of the first paragraph says 'Thanks you', I think you meant 'Thank you'. Sorry, I'm OCD about that kind of stuff.

@Chad Watson - Firstly congrats. getting married is the second most happy event in your life (first is the kids, but, you marry first...)
I could not relate with you more. Today when Internet make the community so small it is really easy to look at photogs like Chase Jarvis, Joe McNally David Hobby and the rest of the bunch, they all have it so natural, it seems like there is just no way to get to this level. But hey, all of them also post they goofs every once in a while. Yes they are human. I personally take it one session at a time. Try my best to improve from shot to shot. I am not there yet. Do I sometimes get discouraged? heck yes! do I keep shooting? Heck yes!

@Zac - I am glad watching this video helped you get over the tipping point. I guess this video will resonate with me each time I feel I shoot like a ars (a feeling I have more often that I'd like). Thanks for the fix. There is no stuff just me, and I am not a native English speaker so every bit helps.
