The Nikon D3 Camera Lunch Box

First, a word of warning: do not try this at home...

So, the word on the street is that the new (or not so new anymore) Nikon D3 is as bullet proof as an M1 Abrams tank. Apparently, this guy from youtube decided to see if the rumors are correct.

This is not a video for the faint of heart. Nor is it a video to watch if you just ate. It might induce involuntary gagging when seeing the abuse this camera takes.

One more thing, do not try this with the little sister - the Nikon D70 - you will have to eat the camera.

After much ado, here is The Video Link.

If that was not enough, watch the Nikon D3 Drop Test. (The video freezes in the middle, but the point is well made).

Any comments about the truthfulness of those flicks will be greatly appreciated. (No, I did not get a huge lump of cash, and No, I am not buying one of those anytime soon)

Its amazing how popular these videos have become. A quick search reveals just how controversial and popular this guy has become.

I think its hilarious that this 20 year old kid posted his videos on DPreview and stirred up all the old farts so much. People are seriously angry with him for some reason. There's also all the controversy over whether or not its fake, if the camera really is damaged, ect. His post on DPreview has been one of the most viewed posts sitewide over the last few days!

For me, his videos and the powerful reactions ensued present a important statement about modern consumerism more than the videos demonstrate the construction of Nikon cameras.

Go out and take pictures and don't get caught up in ridiculous forum politics and debates, life is too short.

Sorry for the rant...

insane?

Well you figure the camera would work right after all that was done, i'd be interested in what it did once the stuff dried. Oh and the guy is completely insane obviously.

I don't know this for sure, but the second video could be made to freeze if the 'Drop Test' didn't go as planned.

If this were true, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. My child would possibly drop kick it and I'd be none the wiser. But again, if this wasn't a hoax why doesn't he prove the myth by turning it on, taking a picture, transferring it, and print!

There is also the scratching, hammering, blending, bar mitzvah and microwave test. It's fun. This boy must be rotten in money but I guess the camera can take it all.

There is a video where he uses the camera to take a pic of the newspaper and upload it.
