Polaroid Go Gen 3: Better Lens, Stronger Flash, Still Tiny and Fun

Polaroid has added a third-generation member to its Go line of instant cameras. The updates in the Polaroid Go Gen 3 are modest compared to its predecessors: a redesigned lens, a stronger flash, and five new color options. Let’s see in more detail what the latest model brings to the table.
The headline upgrade is the lens. Polaroid says it produces sharper images with better contrast, and it now sits deeper in the body to cut down on glare in bright conditions. As an owner of the first generation of Polaroid Go, I’d say this truly is an improvement (hopefully, more than a subtle one).
The flash has also been strengthened, which is arguably just as important. The Go series is built for parties, festivals, and all kinds of social situations. Since many of these happen indoors or after dark, you want a decent flash to preserve memories in low-light situations. I’d say the current flash is strong enough for selfies, but step back a bit, and the performance isn’t as bright.
There’s another tiny improvement: the selfie mirror. Polaroid claims it can now fit up to three people in frame when shooting at arm’s length. It’s a small but welcome addition for group selfies.
What stays the same is worth noting, too. The camera still shoots Polaroid Originals i-Type film and still relies on fully automatic exposure with a fixed f/14.4 aperture. It still has no app connectivity, which is a shame, but it’s not a dealbreaker if you ask me. There’s still the double-exposure mode and a self-timer, which I particularly like about a camera like this. I wanna be included in the photos, too! :)
